Once people are past the beginning phase of gaining some initial ab strength, I try to get them away from the exercises that are too easy, where someone can do 50 or 100 reps, as is frequently common with standard crunches. One example of a higher resistance abs exercise is hanging leg raises with a proper "pelvic curl up".

How Many 'Quick and Easy' Diets Have YOU Been On?

Seriously, how many 'quick and easy weight loss' diets have YOU been on? Do they work? Let me tell you about a rapid weight loss program that DOES work.

A Real Weight Loss Story

This past weekend I got to catch up with a friend (Jack) whom I hadn't seen in several months. Like most people Jack hadn't really changed in appearance since the last time we saw each other (around the 1st of the year). Jack and I talked for a while about stuff (Mario Kart for the Nintendo Wii, the increasing price of corn, how summer TV is really bad, you know the usual) then as many of my conversations seem to go Jack started asking me about nutrition and fat loss.

Basically Jack was pretty frustrated. He said that he had been dieting for "as long as I can remember" but somehow he still had 15lbs to lose. Some further interrogation (okay I wasn't interrogating my friend) Jack 'fessed up that while he was a lifetime dieter his compliance to his fat loss diet was pretty bad.

"..he felt like he had been dieting forever..and not getting ANYWHERE!"

The Quick And Easy Weight Loss Cycle - Is This You?

This resulted in something that I find with a lot of people. Because Jack was supposed to be "dieting" he would never feel like he could enjoy non-clean foods or foods in normal/larger quantities, so he'd feel guilty when he ate them, get discouraged, fall off the wagon, wait until Monday, and start dieting again.

This cycle would repeat week after week, month after month. The end result was Jack wasn't losing the weight he wanted and he was burnt out and discouraged because he felt like he had been dieting forever and not getting anywhere.

Put that piece of paper somewhere you will see everyday. Try to put it somewhere you will see for most of the day when you have a bit of time to day dream. I'm a programmer and I work at home so it was stuck at the top of my computer screen. It doesn't have to be some where like this but you get the idea.

I was quite overweight and needed to lose a lot of weight, and the 2nd example is actually what I wrote down and put in front of me everyday. I was brutally honest with myself.

What Happens When You Train Your Brain To Lose Weight?

2 things will happen.

Looking at that piece of paper daily will switch your brain into overdrive.

1. Your brain will try and figure out a way to achieve your goal.

2. Your brain will start to associate pain with what you've written down if you fail and it will force you to try your hardest to avoid the pain.

Let me give you an example... Have you been asked to go to the beach but you were embarrassed about your ugly fat?

If you made up an excuse NOT to go to the beach, that's you brain subconsciously trying to avoid the pain of being in a swimsuit and being embarrased!

Now... if you see everyday what will happen if you fail you will increase your drive to avoid the pain because you've made the consequences of failure clear. (Remember you have to be brutally honest with yourself).

To increase your determination further read what you've written down OUTLOUD (in your head if people are around you and you are embarrased) several times - everytime you see that piece of paper.

I hope this helps anyone trying to lose weight but not being able to stay determined at losing weight.
